Charles Propst passed away December 21, 2008 at his home in Post, TX. He retired from OIG in 1982 as a special agent in Denver after having transferred there from the Kansas City Regional Office. Charles served with U. S. Customs before coming to OIG.

The following is his obituary from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Wednesday, December 24, 2008:

  • Masonic graveside service for Charles Propst, 78, of Post, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the Terrace Cemetery. Services are under the personal care of Dee and Janet Justice, Justice-Mason Funeral Home.

    Charles died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at his home. Born Jan. 8, 1930, in Lynn County, to Jesse and Bernice (Miller) Propst, he attended school at Graham Chapel and Post. In 1946, he joined the US Air Force and married Rheba Hays Nov. 21, 1962, in Post. He retired from OIG as a criminal investigator in 1982, and returned to Post. He was a fifty-year-plus member of the Post Masonic Lodge, longtime Shriner, and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Rheba Propst; daughter, Pamela Jones; four sisters, Dorrace Huff, Jeneice Jenkins, Thelma McGaugh, and Wanda Markham; and one granddaughter, Lexie Jones.

    The family will greet friends at Justice-Mason Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to VistaCare Family Hospice, 1717 Norfolk Avenue, Bldg A, Lubbock, Texas 79416.
