Retired Special Agent Frank W. Weeks, Jr., Raleigh, NC, suboffice, passed away from a heart attack at home April 10, 2019.

Frank began his law enforcement career with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office in Savannah, GA and moved to the Atlanta, GA, PD before going to work for the Bureau of Prisons in Butner, NC. Frank came to work for OIG-Investigations in the Atlanta Regional Office in early 1978 and transferred to the Raleigh Suboffice later that same year. Once in Raleigh, Frank stayed put and became a fixture there retiring in 2003. Frank was a natural story teller and will always be remembered for his Southern wit.

  • Frank Willard Weeks, Jr. passed away at home on April 10, 2019. He was born in Savannah, GA on August 2, 1952 to Frank W. Weeks and Annice S. Joyner.

    Frank is survived by his wife, Joan Baker Weeks; son, Brian Douglas Weeks (wife Kathryn) and grandsons, Benjamin and Booker Weeks of Wilmington, NC; sister, Sarah Godbey (husband Phil) of Savannah, GA; mother-in-law, Gerry Perry of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Margaret Perry (husband Scott) of Raleigh, NC; brother-in-law, John Baker of Wrightsville Beach, NC. He is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.

    Frank grew up a Georgia boy and lived in Savannah, McRae, Albany, and Atlanta. After graduating from Armstrong College with a degree in Criminal Justice, he worked in law enforcement and settled in Raleigh, North Carolina where he served 25 years as a Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Upon his retirement, he and Joanie moved to Youngsville, NC to a home in the country that he affectionately referred to as Camelot.

    Frank cultivated many lifelong friendships over the years through work and his varied passions. He loved working on cars, especially MGs. For several years, he could be found tinkering under his 1971 MG or hanging out for hours in his buddy Eddie May's garage. Frank also loved playing guitar and was especially fond of the four B's: Beatles, Blues, Buffett, and Bluegrass. He enjoyed fishing and yard work, but his favorite pastime, especially in recent years, was having a lively conversation with a good friend.

    There will be a visitation for family and friends on May 5, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm at Renaissance Funeral Home (7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615).

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Frank Willard Weeks to the Franklin County Emergency Medical Services (8146 NC-56, Louisburg, NC 27549) or the Youngsville Fire Department (803 Wheaton Ave, Youngsville, NC 27596)
