Teddy Joe Totten

Teddy Joe Totten, 82, of Olney, Illinois, died December 26, 2011. Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran, a Federal Criminal Investigator for the Departments of Commerce and Agriculture. He retired as a regional supervisor for the Department of Commerce.

Note from Joe Hagedorn: Teddy Joe worked for OIG USDA and prior USDA investigation divisions for many years. He started in the late 50s or early 60s. I worked with him. He worked with John V. Graziano, former Inspector General, USDA, for a long time investigating grain elevator explosions.

  • Teddy Joe Totten, 82, of Olney, went home to be with his Lord at 7 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011, from his residence.

    Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, in the Chapel of Stasi-Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, with the Reverend Ralph Totten officiating. Richland County veteran organizations will conduct military rites at the graveside.

    Joe was born on August 12, 1929, in rural Richland County, Illinois, the son of Francis Donald Totten and Theda (McWilliams) Totten. He married Patsy Stanley on March 28, 1959, at Olney Church of the Nazarene. She survives.

    Joe attended Olney Church of the Nazarene and was a U.S. Army Veteran, a Federal Criminal Investigator for the Department of Commerce and a Criminal Investigator for the Department of Agriculture. He retired as a regional supervisor for the Department of Commerce. He was a member of Olney American Legion Post 30, an avid mushroom hunter, fisherman and gardener who loved spending time with his family, Joe will be sadly missed by his family, friends, church family, and all who knew him.

    He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Totten, of Olney; sons, Douglas Totten and his wife, Carolyn, of Olney, and Dan Totten and his wife, Ruth, of Olney; daughters, Rebecca Stanley and her husband, Roger, of Otwell, Ind., and Lori Bochert and her husband, Wayne, of Newburgh, Ind.; brothers, Jean Patrick Totten, of Winder, Ga., and John Michael Totten, of Flora; grandchildren, Mandy Jarboe, Donald Totten, Christina Totten, Mark Totten and Matthew Totten; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Theda Totten, brothers, Ed Wayne and Donald Fred Totten, and grandsons, Jesse and Jeremy Stanley.
