William D. Parker, 88, retired RIG, Southwest Region, passed away March 4, 2015.

The following is the published obituary:

  • William D. Parker

    Bill Parker, 88, of Dowling Park, FL, died March 4, 2015. Born November 13, 1926 in Samoset, Manatee County, FL, he served in the USN from 1943 to 1946. A graduate of the University of Florida, he was a teacher in Pinellas County, FL before embarking on a colorful career as a criminal investigator, first with the US Treasury and then with the USDA.

    He retired as a Regional Inspector General, OIG, USDA in 1979. Following retirement, he worked for The Florida Bar. He is survived by two children, LCDR Larry Parker, USN-RET and Deborah Parker, and two grandchildren, SGT Nathan Parker, USMC-RET and Ivy Rieger, PhD Candidate, and two siblings, Charles Parker and Evelyn Bixby.

    Private services will be held at Cotton Plant, FL, where he met and married his late wife, Janice Potts Parker of Marion County, FL. Donations to Haven Hospice, Lake City, FL may be made in lieu of flowers.
