Jack Herndon passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA.
Jack retired as Assistant Regional Inspector General from the Midwest Region, Chicago. Jack started with OIG as a Special Agent in Atlanta in 1977 and later went to Indianapolis as a Supervisory Special Agent before becoming ARIG in the region.

The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mr. Jack Arnold Herndon, age 59 of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was a retired Federal investigator as assistant Regional inspector General for the United States Department of Agriculture after twenty three years of service in the Chicago, IL office. He was a graduate of John Marshall Law School where he received a jurist prudence Doctorate degree. Mr. Herndon was a former Chief Investigator and Rescue Squad volunteer for Fannin County. He was a Moose Lodge member in Indiana and of the Baptist Faith. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam era in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Herndon was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Arnold Lee Herndon.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Patricia Crawford Herndon; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bryan and Heather Herndon of Cleveland, TN and Michael James Herndon of Blue Ridge, GA; step-son, Carl Foresman of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Kellie Coyle of Blue Ridge, GA Michelle Herndon of Blue Ridge, GA; mother, Arzella C. Herndon of Blue Ridge, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Harold Lee and Marie Herndon of Blue Ridge, GA; sister-in-law, Barbara Dockery of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Michael Logan Coyle, Andres Hernandez, Stephanie Hernandez and Joshua Hernandez.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Randy and Misty Hooper. Interment will follow in the McKinney Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Steve Eaton, Charles Patterson, Richard McNelley, Robert Guthrie, Jo Dan LeFrance and Tommy Callihan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Herndon may be made to Lymphoma and Leukemia Societies or the family has requested that blood be given in his memory.
